Applying payments to entries dated after the payment

By default, Continia Banking only matches a payment to entries dated on or before the payment date. However, a payment can arrive before the invoice is posted. For example, in a webshop, the customer pays on day 1, and the invoice is posted on day 2.

When you enable Apply After Payment Date on the Banking Import Setup page, Continia Banking matches payments to open customer and vendor invoices, and open G/L entries, that are dated after the payment. Continia Banking then applies the payments automatically, using the standard application.

Bemærk

You must enable the Apply After Payment Date feature on the Continia Feature Management page. From version 30, the feature is enabled for everyone.

Bemærk

You can't enable Apply After Payment Date and Post Multiple Applications as one sum Entry at the same time. For more information, see Posting multiple applications as one sum entry.

To apply payments to entries dated after the payment

To enable applying payments to entries dated after the payment:

  1. Search () for and select Banking Import Setup.
  2. On the Matching FastTab, in the Ledger Entries section, enable the Apply After Payment Date toggle. The field is disabled by default.

Which entries are matched

When Apply After Payment Date is enabled, only the following matching methods also find customer, vendor, and open G/L entries dated after the payment:

  • Document number matching
  • External document number matching
  • Payment reference rules

The Apply Ledger Entries page also shows these entries when you apply payments manually.

All other matching methods are unchanged and only use entries up to the payment date. These include:

  • Account balance matching
  • Reminder and finance charge memo matching
  • Reference ID matching: end-to-end ID, payment information ID, and payment batch ID
  • CAMT reference matching

Employee entries aren't matched after the payment date.

How the payment is posted

When you post, Continia Banking posts the payment on account on its own date. Right after posting, Continia Banking applies the payment to the invoice on the invoice date. If one bank line pays several invoices, Continia Banking posts one payment per invoice and applies each payment on its own invoice date.

Payment discounts and payment tolerances are given as in a manual application, and the discount, tolerance, currency gain/loss, and VAT entries get the invoice date. If the tolerance warning is enabled on the General Ledger Setup page, you still get the tolerance, but Continia Banking doesn't show the tolerance dialog. The posting preview doesn't show the application.

Continia Finance applies open G/L entries dated after the payment during posting, on the entry's date, as when you apply them manually. This is only available for bank accounts in local currency.

When the payment stays on account

In the following situations, Continia Banking can't apply the payment after posting. The payment stays posted on account, and you must apply it manually:

  • Another payment closes the invoice first.
  • The invoice is already marked for another application, for example, in a journal. The other application keeps its mark.
  • You post from the Bank Account Reconciliation page, and the application fails, for example, because the invoice date isn't an allowed posting date. Continia Banking shows the error. If the posting runs in the job queue, the job queue entry fails.
