Setting up payment posting

Use this setup to determine how payments are posted and which accounts are used. It lets you distinguish between the bank account used for issuing payments and the account where the payments are posted.

For example, you schedule payments to be sent to the bank 14 days ahead. Rather than letting these payments reduce the bank account balance, you can post them to a G/L account immediately. This ensures that the bank account reflects the correct balance in Business Central.

To set up the payment posting:

  1. Search () for and select Payment Posting Setup.

  2. You can specify how payments are posted based on the selected payment method and bank account. Optionally, you can:

    • Pay from one bank account and post the transaction to another.

    • Post the transaction directly to a general ledger (G/L) account.

For example, you might process a payment from an operating bank account but post it to a specific G/L account, regardless of the payment method. This configuration is optional and depends on your business needs.

  3. In the Batch Posting field, specify whether payments are grouped and posted together. This reduces the number of entries in the general ledger. When batch posting is enabled, Continia Banking batches payment lines automatically when they have the same:

    • Pay from Bank Account No. in the payment journal.
    • Payment method code
    • Posting date
    • Balancing account type
    • Balancing account number

If you enable batch posting without selecting a payment method, you're asked to confirm that batching applies to all payment methods.

Bemærk

Not all payment methods support batching. For example, BTI in Germany does not support batching. Only enable batch posting for payment methods that your bank can process as a batch.
