Updating customer and vendor cards in bulk
In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, customer and vendor cards are the master records for customers and vendors, holding various data that determines how Business Central handles transactions with that customer or vendor. When you have Continia Document Output installed, each customer or vendor card is automatically equipped with a Document Output-specific FactBox, which allows you to define how documents are delivered to that customer or vendor. The dedicated pages Document Output Customer Card and Document Output Vendor Card enable you to do the same, and for the former you can even edit a number of additional fields.
For some of the customer and vendor card fields, you can update multiple customer or vendor cards in bulk, rather than having to update each card individually. The fields you can bulk-update vary between the card types, but for both customer cards and vendor cards, the Output Profile field is one of them.
You determine which customer or vendor cards you want to update using standard Business Central filter functionality.
To bulk-update customer cards
In order to update multiple customer cards in one operation, follow these steps:
In the navigation menu at the top of the page, click Document Output to open a submenu.
Click Customer > Customer Cards to open the list of customer cards.
In the action bar, click Update Customers to open the CDO Update Customer Setup.
Under Options, edit the settings as needed:
- Output Profile: Enter or select the code of the output profile you want to apply to the customer cards.
- Automatic Documents: Enter or select the code of the automatic document profile you want to apply to the customer cards.
- Automatic statement: Specify if you want statements to be triggered manually or automatically for the customer cards.
Enable Change Existing setup if you want any existing settings in customer cards overwritten by the settings you selected in step 4 above.
Note
If you leave this disabled, only those customers for whom these settings don't exist will have your selected settings applied.
Under Filter:Customer, use the filters to specify which customer cards your selected settings should be applied to.
Your selected settings will now be applied to the specified customer cards in a single operation.
To bulk-update vendor cards

Under Options, edit the setting as needed:

Note
If you leave this disabled, only those vendors for whom this setting doesn't exist will have your selected setting applied.
