Installing (Minor) Upgrades to Business Central On-Premises
Because Continia apps are distributed as runtime packages and runtime packages are guaranteed to work only if published to a platform with the same version as the one on which they were created, all Continia apps must be both uninstalled and unpublished before any Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central upgrade is installed. This goes for both major and minor (cumulative) upgrades. You must uninstall all apps before you unpublish them, and the overall procedure of uninstalling and unpublishing apps must be carried out in the reverse order of the installation, as described below:
- Continia Document Capture 365 OnPremise (if used)
- Continia Document Capture 365
- Continia Delivery Network
- Continia Core
Avoid running the Repair-NAVApp cmdlet, as Continia apps are precompiled due to their distribution as runtime packages. Running this cmdlet will return an error.
Once you've uninstalled and unpublished your Continia apps and upgraded Business Central, you can then republish and reinstall Document Capture, in that order. Note that you must install the Document Capture runtime package that corresponds to the new version of Business Central.
You only have to uninstall and unpublish Continia apps when you upgrade Business Central alone, i.e. without also upgrading Document Capture. If you upgrade both Business Central and Document Capture at the same time, the above procedure is unnecessary.
The table below provides an overview of the entire process:
