Core concepts in Continia Sustainability
Working with Continia Sustainability is straightforward, but involves some essential concepts that are important for you to understand. These are all explained below.
Carbon accounting and the role of Continia Sustainability
Carbon accounting is the process of systematically tracking and reporting a company's carbon emissions and overall environmental impact. Continia Sustainability simplifies this process by integrating directly with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, allowing businesses to collect, manage, and monitor all data related to their company's climate impact.
By using financial data within Business Central, Continia Sustainability provides a user-friendly interface for accurate carbon footprint assessments. This enables companies to make informed, data-driven decisions that support their sustainability goals and ensure regulatory compliance.
Working with GHG protocol and GHG scopes
Continia Sustainability aligns with the GHG Protocol standards and facilitates reporting across all three scopes as per international norms. For more information, see the GHG scopes explained article.
What are emission types and environmental accounts?
Continia Sustainability provides the possibility of specifying different types of emissions or direct sources of emissions that are relevant to your company. For instance, you can define the fuel types, electricity, industrial processes, and refrigerants that your company uses and link them to an emission factor. You can then register these emissions under one or more Environmental Accounts. Environmental Accounts refer to all the processes or activities that contribute to your company's footprint, such as offices, fleet, waste, and business travel. They define the structure of your organization and allocate emissions to all three scopes. For more information, see the Environmental accounts section.
Organizing carbon accounting with environmental journals?
You can organize your carbon accounting using environmental journals provided by Continia Sustainability. These journals offer flexibility, allowing you to create separate ones for individual emission sources or opt for a streamlined approach with a general journal, similar to a G/L journal. For more information, see the Environmental journals section.
Emission factor databases
Continia Sustainability offers license-free default Emission Factor Sets, sourced from official government databases, simplifying the process of linking factors to emission types. For more information, see the Emission Factor Databases section.
